1 Timothy — ܩܦܠܐܘܢ 1 1 Timothy — Chapter 1
ܦܘܠܘܣ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܒܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܚܝܢܢ ܘܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܣܒܪܢΠαῦλος ἀπόστολος Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ κατ’ ἐπιταγὴν Θεοῦ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ τῆς ἐλπίδος ἡμῶν1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, {which is} our hope;بُولُسُ، رَسُولُ يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ، بِحَسَبِ أَمْرِ ٱللهِ مُخَلِّصِنَا، وَرَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ، رَجَائِنَا.
ܠܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ ܒܪܐ ܫܪܝܪܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܪܚܡܐ ܘܫܠܡܐ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܘܢ ܘܡܫܝܚܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܪܢΤιμοθέῳ γνησίῳ τέκνῳ ἐν πίστει· χάρις, ἔλεος, εἰρήνη ἀπὸ Θεοῦ πατρὸς καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν.2Unto Timothy, {my} own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, {and} peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.إِلَى تِيمُوثَاوُسَ، ٱلِٱبْنِ ٱلصَّرِيحِ فِي ٱلْإِيمَانِ: نِعْمَةٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ وَسَلَامٌ مِنَ ٱللهِ أَبِينَا وَٱلْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ رَبِّنَا.
ܒܥܝܬ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܢܟ ܟܕ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܡܩܕܘܢܝܐ ܕܬܩܘܐ ܒܐܦܣܘܣ ܘܬܦܩܕ ܠܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܕܠܐ ܢܠܦܘܢ ܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܡܫܚܠܦܐΚαθὼς παρεκάλεσά σε προσμεῖναι ἐν Ἐφέσῳ, πορευόμενος εἰς Μακεδονίαν, ἵνα παραγγείλῃς τισὶν μὴ ἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖν3As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,كَمَا طَلَبْتُ إِلَيْكَ أَنْ تَمْكُثَ فِي أَفَسُسَ، إِذْ كُنْتُ أَنَا ذَاهِبًا إِلَى مَكِدُونِيَّةَ، لِكَيْ تُوصِيَ قَوْمًا أَنْ لَا يُعَلِّمُوا تَعْلِيمًا آخَرَ،
ܘܠܐ ܢܬܪܡܘܢ ܠܫܘܥܝܬܐ ܘܠܬܫܥܝܬܐ ܕܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܣܟܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܚܪܝܢܐ ܗܘ ܥܒܕܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܒܢܝܢܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐμηδὲ προσέχειν μύθοις καὶ γενεαλογίαις ἀπεράντοις, αἵτινες ἐκζητήσεις παρέχουσιν μᾶλλον ἢ οἰκονομίαν Θεοῦ τὴν ἐν πίστει·4Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: {so do}.وَلَا يُصْغُوا إِلَى خُرَافَاتٍ وَأَنْسَابٍ لَا حَدَّ لَهَا، تُسَبِّبُ مُبَاحَثَاتٍ دُونَ بُنْيَانِ ٱللهِ ٱلَّذِي فِي ٱلْإِيمَانِ.
ܣܟܗ ܕܝܢ ܕܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܚܘܒܐ ܕܡܢ ܠܒܐ ܕܟܝܐ ܘܡܢ ܬܐܪܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܫܪܝܪܬܐτὸ δὲ τέλος τῆς παραγγελίας ἐστὶν ἀγάπη ἐκ καθαρᾶς καρδίας καὶ συνειδήσεως ἀγαθῆς καὶ πίστεως ἀνυποκρίτου,5Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and {of} a good conscience, and {of} faith unfeigned:وَأَمَّا غَايَةُ ٱلْوَصِيَّةِ فَهِيَ ٱلْمَحَبَّةُ مِنْ قَلْبٍ طَاهِرٍ، وَضَمِيرٍ صَالِحٍ، وَإِيمَانٍ بِلَا رِيَاءٍ.
ܘܡܢܗܝܢ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܛܥܘ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܣܛܘ ܠܡܠܐ ܣܪܝܩܬܐὧν τινες ἀστοχήσαντες ἐξετράπησαν εἰς ματαιολογίαν,6From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; {having...: or, not aiming at}ٱلْأُمُورُ ٱلَّتِي إِذْ زَاغَ قَوْمٌ عَنْهَا، ٱنْحَرَفُوا إِلَى كَلَامٍ بَاطِلٍ.
ܒܕܒܥܘ ܠܡܗܘܐ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܟܕ ܠܐ ܡܣܬܟܠܝܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܬܚܪܝܢθέλοντες εἶναι νομοδιδάσκαλοι, μὴ νοοῦντες μήτε ἃ λέγουσιν μήτε περὶ τίνων διαβεβαιοῦνται.7Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا مُعَلِّمِي ٱلنَّامُوسِ، وَهُمْ لَا يَفْهَمُونَ مَا يَقُولُونَ، وَلَا مَا يُقَرِّرُونَهُ.
ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܗܘ ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܐܟܘܬܗ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܢܬܕܒܪ ܒܗΟἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι καλὸς ὁ νόμος, ἐάν τις αὐτῷ νομίμως χρῆται,8But we know that the law {is} good, if a man use it lawfully;وَلَكِنَّنَا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ٱلنَّامُوسَ صَالِحٌ، إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يَسْتَعْمِلُهُ نَامُوسِيًّا.
ܟܕ ܝܕܥ ܕܠܟܐܢܐ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܠܐ ܣܝܡ ܐܠܐ ܠܥܘܠܐ ܘܠܡܪܘܕܐ ܘܠܪܫܝܥܐ ܘܠܚܛܝܐ ܘܠܥܢܬܐ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܕܟܝܢ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܝܢ ܠܐܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܝܢ ܠܐܡܗܬܗܘܢ ܘܠܩܛܘܠܐεἰδὼς τοῦτο, ὅτι δικαίῳ νόμος οὐ κεῖται, ἀνόμοις δὲ καὶ ἀνυποτάκτοις, ἀσεβέσι καὶ ἁμαρτωλοῖς, ἀνοσίοις καὶ βεβήλοις, πατρολῴαις καὶ μητρολῴαις, ἀνδροφόνοις,9Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,عَالِمًا هَذَا: أَنَّ ٱلنَّامُوسَ لَمْ يُوضَعْ لِلْبَارِّ، بَلْ لِلْأَثَمَةِ وَٱلْمُتَمَرِّدِينَ، لِلْفُجَّارِ وَٱلْخُطَاةِ، لِلدَّنِسِينَ وَٱلْمُسْتَبِيحِينَ، لِقَاتِلِي ٱلْآبَاءِ وَقَاتِلِي ٱلْأُمَّهَاتِ، لِقَاتِلِي ٱلنَّاسِ،
ܘܠܙܢܝܐ ܘܠܫܟܒܝ ܥܡ ܕܟܪܐ ܘܠܓܢܒܝ ܒܢܝ ܚܐܪܐ ܘܠܕܓܠܐ ܘܠܥܒܪܝ ܥܠ ܡܘܡܬܐ ܘܠܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܣܩܘܒܠܐ ܠܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܚܠܝܡܐπόρνοις, ἀρσενοκοίταις, ἀνδραποδισταῖς, ψεύσταις, ἐπιόρκοις, καὶ εἴ τι ἕτερον τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ διδασκαλίᾳ ἀντίκειται,10For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;لِلزُّنَاةِ، لِمُضَاجِعِي ٱلذُّكُورِ، لِسَارِقِي ٱلنَّاسِ، لِلْكَذَّابِينَ، لِلْحَانِثِينَ، وَإِنْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ آخَرُ يُقَاوِمُ ٱلتَّعْلِيمَ ٱلصَّحِيحَ،
ܕܐܘܢܓܠܝܘܢ ܕܬܫܒܘܚܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܒܪܟܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܬܗܝܡܢܬκατὰ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς δόξης τοῦ μακαρίου Θεοῦ, ὃ ἐπιστεύθην ἐγώ.11According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.حَسَبَ إِنْجِيلِ مَجْدِ ٱللهِ ٱلْمُبَارَكِ ٱلَّذِي ٱؤْتُمِنْتُ أَنَا عَلَيْهِ.
ܘܡܘܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܕܚܝܠܢܝ ܠܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܚܫܒܢܝ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܘܣܡܢܝ ܠܬܫܡܫܬܗΧάριν ἔχω τῷ ἐνδυναμώσαντί με Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τῷ Κυρίῳ ἡμῶν, ὅτι πιστόν με ἡγήσατο θέμενος εἰς διακονίαν,12And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;وَأَنَا أَشْكُرُ ٱلْمَسِيحَ يَسُوعَ رَبَّنَا ٱلَّذِي قَوَّانِي، أَنَّهُ حَسِبَنِي أَمِينًا، إِذْ جَعَلَنِي لِلْخِدْمَةِ،
ܠܝ ܕܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܡܓܕܦܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܪܕܘܦ ܘܡܨܥܪܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܬܚܢܢܬ ܡܛܠ ܕܟܕ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܝܬ ܥܒܕܬ ܕܠܐ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐτὸ πρότερον ὄντα βλάσφημον καὶ διώκτην καὶ ὑβριστήν· ἀλλὰ ἠλεήθην, ὅτι ἀγνοῶν ἐποίησα ἐν ἀπιστίᾳ,13Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did {it} ignorantly in unbelief.أَنَا ٱلَّذِي كُنْتُ قَبْلًا مُجَدِّفًا وَمُضْطَهِدًا وَمُفْتَرِيًا. وَلَكِنَّنِي رُحِمْتُ، لِأَنِّي فَعَلْتُ بِجَهْلٍ فِي عَدَمِ إِيمَانٍ.
ܣܓܝܬ ܒܝ ܕܝܢ ܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܘܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܚܘܒܐ ܕܒܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐὑπερεπλεόνασεν δὲ ἡ χάρις τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν μετὰ πίστεως καὶ ἀγάπης τῆς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ.14And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.وَتَفَاضَلَتْ نِعْمَةُ رَبِّنَا جِدًّا مَعَ ٱلْإِيمَانِ وَٱلْمَحَبَّةِ ٱلَّتِي فِي ٱلْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ.
ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܫܘܝܐ ܗܝ ܠܡܩܒܠܘܬܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܠܡܚܝܘ ܠܚܛܝܐ ܕܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐπιστὸς ὁ λόγος καὶ πάσης ἀποδοχῆς ἄξιος, ὅτι Χριστὸς Ἰησοῦς ἦλθεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον ἁμαρτωλοὺς σῶσαι· ὧν πρῶτός εἰμι ἐγώ·15This {is} a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.صَادِقَةٌ هِيَ ٱلْكَلِمَةُ وَمُسْتَحِقَّةٌ كُلَّ قُبُولٍ: أَنَّ ٱلْمَسِيحَ يَسُوعَ جَاءَ إِلَى ٱلْعَالَمِ لِيُخَلِّصَ ٱلْخُطَاةَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَوَّلُهُمْ أَنَا.
ܐܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܪܚܡ ܥܠܝ ܕܒܝ ܩܕܡܐ ܢܚܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܟܠܗ ܡܓܪܬ ܪܘܚܗ ܠܬܚܘܝܬܐ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܬܝܕܝܢ ܕܢܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܒܗ ܠܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡἀλλὰ διὰ τοῦτο ἠλεήθην, ἵνα ἐν ἐμοὶ πρώτῳ ἐνδείξηται Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς τὴν ἅπασαν μακροθυμίαν, πρὸς ὑποτύπωσιν τῶν μελλόντων πιστεύειν ἐπ' αὐτῷ εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον.16Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.لَكِنَّنِي لِهَذَا رُحِمْتُ: لِيُظْهِرَ يَسُوعُ ٱلْمَسِيحُ فِيَّ أَنَا أَوَّلًا كُلَّ أَنَاةٍ، مِثَالًا لِلْعَتِيدِينَ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ لِلْحَيَاةِ ٱلْأَبَدِيَّةِ.
ܠܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܠܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܚܒܠ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܚܙܐ ܕܗܘܝܘ ܚܕ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܩܪܐ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢΤῷ δὲ Βασιλεῖ τῶν αἰώνων, ἀφθάρτῳ ἀοράτῳ μόνῳ Θεῷ, τιμὴ καὶ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων· ἀμήν.17Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, {be} honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.وَمَلِكُ ٱلدُّهُورِ ٱلَّذِي لَا يَفْنَى وَلَا يُرَى، ٱلْإِلَهُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ وَحْدَهُ، لَهُ ٱلْكَرَامَةُ وَٱلْمَجْدُ إِلَى دَهْرِ ٱلدُّهُورِ. آمِينَ.
ܗܢܐ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܡܓܥܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܒܪܝ ܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ ܐܝܟ ܢܒܝܘܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܕܗܘܝ ܥܠܝܟ ܕܬܦܠܘܚ ܒܗܝܢ ܦܠܚܘܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐΤαύτην τὴν παραγγελίαν παρατίθεμαί σοι, τέκνον Τιμόθεε, κατὰ τὰς προαγούσας ἐπὶ σὲ προφητείας, ἵνα στρατεύῃ ἐν αὐταῖς τὴν καλὴν στρατείαν,18This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;هَذِهِ ٱلْوَصِيَّةُ أَيُّهَا ٱلِٱبْنُ تِيمُوثَاوُسُ أَسْتَوْدِعُكَ إِيَّاهَا حَسَبَ ٱلنُّبُوَّاتِ ٱلَّتِي سَبَقَتْ عَلَيْكَ، لِكَيْ تُحَارِبَ فِيهَا ٱلْمُحَارَبَةَ ٱلْحَسَنَةَ،
ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܬܐܪܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܠܗܕܐ ܕܚܩܘ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܐܣܬܪܩܘἔχων πίστιν καὶ ἀγαθὴν συνείδησιν, ἥν τινες ἀπωσάμενοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν ἐναυάγησαν·19Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:وَلَكَ إِيمَانٌ وَضَمِيرٌ صَالِحٌ، ٱلَّذِي إِذْ رَفَضَهُ قَوْمٌ، ٱنْكَسَرَتْ بِهِمِ ٱلسَّفِينَةُ مِنْ جِهَةِ ٱلْإِيمَانِ أَيْضًا،
ܐܝܟ ܗܘܡܢܐܘܣ ܘܐܠܟܣܢܕܪܘܣ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܐܫܠܡܬ ܠܣܛܢܐ ܕܢܬܪܕܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܡܓܕܦܝܢὧν ἐστιν Ὑμέναιος καὶ Ἀλέξανδρος, οὓς παρέδωκα τῷ Σατανᾷ, ἵνα παιδευθῶσιν μὴ βλασφημεῖν.20Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.ٱلَّذِينَ مِنْهُمْ هِيمِينَايُسُ وَٱلْإِسْكَنْدَرُ، ٱللَّذَانِ أَسْلَمْتُهُمَا لِلشَّيْطَانِ لِكَيْ يُؤَدَّبَا حَتَّى لَا يُجَدِّفَا.

ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܢܟ ܕܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܒܥܘܬܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܡܩܪܒ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܨܠܘܬܐ ܘܬܚܢܢܬܐ ܘܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܚܠܦ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܝܢܫܐΠαρακαλῶ οὖν πρῶτον πάντων ποιεῖσθαι δεήσεις, προσευχάς, ἐντεύξεις, εὐχαριστίας, ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀνθρώπων,1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, {and} giving of thanks, be made for all men; {exhort: or, desire}فَأَطْلُبُ أَوَّلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، أَنْ تُقَامَ طَلِبَاتٌ وَصَلَوَاتٌ وَٱبْتِهَالَاتٌ وَتَشَكُّرَاتٌ لِأَجْلِ جَمِيعِ ٱلنَّاسِ،
ܚܠܦ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܪܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܥܘܡܪܐ ܫܠܝܐ ܘܢܝܚܐ ܢܥܡܪ ܒܟܠܗ ܕܚܠܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܕܟܝܘܬܐὑπὲρ βασιλέων καὶ πάντων τῶν ἐν ὑπεροχῇ ὄντων, ἵνα ἤρεμον καὶ ἡσύχιον βίον διάγωμεν ἐν πάσῃ εὐσεβείᾳ καὶ σεμνότητι.2For kings, and {for} all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. {authority: or, eminent place}لِأَجْلِ ٱلْمُلُوكِ وَجَمِيعِ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي مَنْصِبٍ، لِكَيْ نَقْضِيَ حَيَاةً مُطْمَئِنَّةً هَادِئَةً فِي كُلِّ تَقْوَى وَوَقَارٍ،
ܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܘܡܩܒܠܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܚܝܢܢτοῦτο καλὸν καὶ ἀπόδεκτον ἐνώπιον τοῦ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Θεοῦ,3For this {is} good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;لِأَنَّ هَذَا حَسَنٌ وَمَقْبُولٌ لَدَى مُخَلِّصِنَا ٱللهِ،
ܗܘ ܕܨܒܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܢܚܘܢ ܘܢܬܦܢܘܢ ܠܝܕܥܬܐ ܕܫܪܪܐὃς πάντας ἀνθρώπους θέλει σωθῆναι καὶ εἰς ἐπίγνωσιν ἀληθείας ἐλθεῖν.4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.ٱلَّذِي يُرِيدُ أَنَّ جَمِيعَ ٱلنَّاسِ يَخْلُصُونَ، وَإِلَى مَعْرِفَةِ ٱلْحَقِّ يُقْبِلُونَ.
ܚܕ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܚܕ ܗܘ ܡܨܥܝܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐεἷς γὰρ Θεός, εἷς καὶ μεσίτης Θεοῦ καὶ ἀνθρώπων, ἄνθρωπος Χριστὸς Ἰησοῦς,5For {there is} one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;لِأَنَّهُ يُوجَدُ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ وَوَسِيطٌ وَاحِدٌ بَيْنَ ٱللهِ وَٱلنَّاسِ: ٱلْإِنْسَانُ يَسُوعُ ٱلْمَسِيحُ،
ܗܘ ܕܝܗܒ ܢܦܫܗ ܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܚܠܦ ܟܠ ܐܢܫ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܕܐܬܬ ܒܙܒܢܗὁ δοὺς ἑαυτὸν ἀντίλυτρον ὑπὲρ πάντων, τὸ μαρτύριον καιροῖς ἰδίοις·6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. {to...: or, a testimony}ٱلَّذِي بَذَلَ نَفْسَهُ فِدْيَةً لِأَجْلِ ٱلْجَمِيعِ، ٱلشَّهَادَةُ فِي أَوْقَاتِهَا ٱلْخَاصَّةِ،
ܗܝ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܬܣܝܡܬ ܟܪܘܙܗ ܘܫܠܝܚܗ ܩܘܫܬܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܕܓܠ ܐܢܐ ܕܗܘܝܬ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܕܥܡܡܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܫܪܪܐεἰς ὃ ἐτέθην ἐγὼ κῆρυξ καὶ ἀπόστολος, ἀλήθειαν λέγω, οὐ ψεύδομαι, διδάσκαλος ἐθνῶν ἐν πίστει καὶ ἀληθείᾳ.7Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, {and} lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.ٱلَّتِي جُعِلْتُ أَنَا لَهَا كَارِزًا وَرَسُولًا. اَلْحَقَّ أَقُولُ فِي ٱلْمَسِيحِ وَلَا أَكْذِبُ، مُعَلِّمًا لِلْأُمَمِ فِي ٱلْإِيمَانِ وَٱلْحَقِّ.
ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܗܘܘ ܡܨܠܝܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܒܟܠ ܕܘܟܐ ܟܕ ܡܪܝܡܝܢ ܐܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܕܟܝܐܝܬ ܕܠܐ ܪܘܓܙܐ ܘܕܠܐ ܡܚܫܒܬܐΒούλομαι οὖν προσεύχεσθαι τοὺς ἄνδρας ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ ἐπαίροντας ὁσίους χεῖρας χωρὶς ὀργῆς καὶ διαλογισμοῦ.8I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.فَأُرِيدُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ ٱلرِّجَالُ فِي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ، رَافِعِينَ أَيَادِيَ طَاهِرَةً، بِدُونِ غَضَبٍ وَلَا جِدَالٍ.
ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܢܫܐ ܒܐܣܟܡܐ ܢܟܦܐ ܕܠܒܘܫܐ ܒܬܚܡܨܬܐ ܘܒܢܟܦܘܬܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܬܨܒܝܬܗܝܢ ܠܐ ܒܓܕܘܠܐ ܘܒܕܗܒܐ ܐܘ ܒܡܪܓܢܝܬܐ ܐܘ ܒܢܚܬܐ ܫܦܝܪܐὩσαύτως γυναῖκας ἐν καταστολῇ κοσμίῳ μετὰ αἰδοῦς καὶ σωφροσύνης κοσμεῖν ἑαυτάς, μὴ ἐν πλέγμασιν καὶ χρυσίῳ ἢ μαργαρίταις ἢ ἱματισμῷ πολυτελεῖ,9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; {broided: or, plaited}وَكَذَلِكَ أَنَّ ٱلنِّسَاءَ يُزَيِّنَّ ذَوَاتِهِنَّ بِلِبَاسِ ٱلْحِشْمَةِ، مَعَ وَرَعٍ وَتَعَقُّلٍ، لَا بِضَفَائِرَ أَوْ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ لَآلِئَ أَوْ مَلَابِسَ كَثِيرَةِ ٱلثَّمَنِ،
ܐܠܐ ܒܥܒܕܐ ܛܒܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܝܐܐ ܠܢܫܐ ܕܡܫܬܘܕܝܢ ܕܚܠܬ ܐܠܗܐἀλλ’ ὃ πρέπει γυναιξὶν ἐπαγγελλομέναις θεοσέβειαν, δι’ ἔργων ἀγαθῶν.10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.بَلْ كَمَا يَلِيقُ بِنِسَاءٍ مُتَعَاهِدَاتٍ بِتَقْوَى ٱللهِ بِأَعْمَالٍ صَالِحَةٍ.
ܐܢܬܬܐ ܒܫܠܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܝܠܦܐ ܒܟܠ ܫܘܥܒܕΓυνὴ ἐν ἡσυχίᾳ μανθανέτω ἐν πάσῃ ὑποταγῇ·11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.لِتَتَعَلَّمِ ٱلْمَرْأَةُ بِسُكُوتٍ فِي كُلِّ خُضُوعٍ.
ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܡܠܦܘ ܠܐ ܡܦܣ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܠܡܡܪܚܘ ܥܠ ܓܒܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܒܫܠܝܐδιδάσκειν δὲ γυναικὶ οὐκ ἐπιτρέπω, οὐδὲ αὐθεντεῖν ἀνδρός, ἀλλ’ εἶναι ἐν ἡσυχίᾳ.12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.وَلَكِنْ لَسْتُ آذَنُ لِلْمَرْأَةِ أَنْ تُعَلِّمَ وَلَا تَتَسَلَّطَ عَلَى ٱلرَّجُلِ، بَلْ تَكُونُ فِي سُكُوتٍ،
ܐܕܡ ܓܝܪ ܐܬܓܒܠ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܚܘܐἈδὰμ γὰρ πρῶτος ἐπλάσθη, εἶτα Εὔα.13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.لِأَنَّ آدَمَ جُبِلَ أَوَّلًا ثُمَّ حَوَّاءُ،
ܘܐܕܡ ܠܐ ܛܥܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܛܥܬ ܘܥܒܪܬ ܥܠ ܦܘܩܕܢܐκαὶ Ἀδὰμ οὐκ ἠπατήθη, ἡ δὲ γυνὴ ἐξαπατηθεῖσα ἐν παραβάσει γέγονεν·14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.وَآدَمُ لَمْ يُغْوَ، لَكِنَّ ٱلْمَرْأَةَ أُغْوِيَتْ فَحَصَلَتْ فِي ٱلتَّعَدِّي.
ܚܝܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܝܕ ܝܠܕܝܗ ܐܢ ܢܩܘܘܢ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܚܘܒܐ ܘܒܩܕܝܫܘܬܐ ܘܒܢܟܦܘܬܐσωθήσεται δὲ διὰ τῆς τεκνογονίας, ἐὰν μείνωσιν ἐν πίστει καὶ ἀγάπῃ καὶ ἁγιασμῷ μετὰ σωφροσύνης.15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.وَلَكِنَّهَا سَتَخْلُصُ بِوِلَادَةِ ٱلْأَوْلَادِ، إِنْ ثَبَتْنَ فِي ٱلْإِيمَانِ وَٱلْمَحَبَّةِ وَٱلْقَدَاسَةِ مَعَ ٱلتَّعَقُّلِ.

1 Timothy — ܩܦܠܐܘܢ 3 1 Timothy — Chapter 3
ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܪܐܓ ܩܫܝܫܘܬܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܛܒܐ ܪܐܓΠιστὸς ὁ λόγος· εἴ τις ἐπισκοπῆς ὀρέγεται, καλοῦ ἔργου ἐπιθυμεῖ.1This {is} a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.صَادِقَةٌ هِيَ ٱلْكَلِمَةُ: إِنِ ٱبْتَغَى أَحَدٌ ٱلْأُسْقُفِيَّةَ، فَيَشْتَهِي عَمَلًا صَالِحًا.
ܘܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܘܡܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܬܟܚ ܒܗ ܘܗܘܐ ܒܥܠܐ ܕܚܕܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܥܝܪ ܪܥܝܢܗ ܘܢܟܦ ܘܡܛܟܣ ܘܪܚܡ ܐܟܣܢܝܐ ܘܡܠܦܢδεῖ οὖν τὸν ἐπίσκοπον ἀνεπίλημπτον εἶναι, μιᾶς γυναικὸς ἄνδρα, νηφάλιον, σώφρονα, κόσμιον, φιλόξενον, διδακτικόν,2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; {of good...: or, modest}فَيَجِبُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ٱلْأُسْقُفُ: بِلَا لَوْمٍ، بَعْلَ ٱمْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، صَاحِيًا، عَاقِلًا، مُحْتَشِمًا، مُضِيفًا لِلْغُرَبَاءِ، صَالِحًا لِلتَّعْلِيمِ،
ܘܠܐ ܥܒܪ ܥܠ ܚܡܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܪܗܛܐ ܐܝܕܗ ܠܡܡܚܐ ܐܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܟܝܟ ܘܠܐ ܢܨܝ ܘܠܐ ܪܚܡ ܟܣܦܐμὴ πάροινον, μὴ πλήκτην, ἀλλὰ ἐπιεικῆ, ἄμαχον, ἀφιλάργυρον,3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; {given...: or, ready to quarrel, and offer wrong, as one in wine}غَيْرَ مُدْمِنِ ٱلْخَمْرِ، وَلَا ضَرَّابٍ، وَلَا طَامِعٍ بِٱلرِّبْحِ ٱلْقَبِيحِ، بَلْ حَلِيمًا، غَيْرَ مُخَاصِمٍ، وَلَا مُحِبٍّ لِلْمَالِ،
ܘܡܕܒܪ ܒܝܬܗ ܫܦܝܪ ܘܐܚܝܕ ܒܢܘܗܝ ܒܫܘܥܒܕܐ ܒܟܠܗ ܕܟܝܘܬܐτοῦ ἰδίου οἴκου καλῶς προϊστάμενον, τέκνα ἔχοντα ἐν ὑποταγῇ μετὰ πάσης σεμνότητος,4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;يُدَبِّرُ بَيْتَهُ حَسَنًا، لَهُ أَوْلَادٌ فِي ٱلْخُضُوعِ بِكُلِّ وَقَارٍ.
ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܒܝܬܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܕܢܕܒܪ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܥܕܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܕܒܪ( εἰ δέ τις τοῦ ἰδίου οἴκου προστῆναι οὐκ οἶδεν, πῶς ἐκκλησίας Θεοῦ ἐπιμελήσεται; )5(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)وَإِنَّمَا إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ لَا يَعْرِفُ أَنْ يُدَبِّرَ بَيْتَهُ، فَكَيْفَ يَعْتَنِي بِكَنِيسَةِ ٱللهِ؟
ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܛܠܐ ܬܘܠܡܕܗ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܪܝܡ ܘܢܦܠ ܒܕܝܢܗ ܕܣܛܢܐμὴ νεόφυτον, ἵνα μὴ τυφωθεὶς εἰς κρίμα ἐμπέσῃ τοῦ διαβόλου.6Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. {a novice: or, one newly come to the faith}غَيْرَ حَدِيثِ ٱلْإِيمَانِ لِئَلَّا يَتَصَلَّفَ فَيَسْقُطَ فِي دَيْنُونَةِ إِبْلِيسَ.
ܘܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܦ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܒܪܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܦܠ ܒܚܣܕܐ ܘܒܦܚܐ ܕܣܛܢܐδεῖ δὲ καὶ μαρτυρίαν καλὴν ἔχειν ἀπὸ τῶν ἔξωθεν, ἵνα μὴ εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν ἐμπέσῃ καὶ παγίδα τοῦ διαβόλου.7Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.وَيَجِبُ أَيْضًا أَنْ تَكُونَ لَهُ شَهَادَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ خَارِجٍ، لِئَلَّا يَسْقُطَ فِي تَعْيِيرٍ وَفَخِّ إِبْلِيسَ.
ܘܐܦ ܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܕܟܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܡܠܠܘܢ ܬܪܬܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܨܠܝܢ ܠܚܡܪܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܪܚܡܘܢ ܝܘܬܪܢܐ ܛܢܦܐΔιακόνους ὡσαύτως σεμνούς, μὴ διλόγους, μὴ οἴνῳ πολλῷ προσέχοντας, μὴ αἰσχροκερδεῖς,8Likewise {must} the deacons {be} grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;كَذَلِكَ يَجِبُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ٱلشَّمَامِسَةُ ذَوِي وَقَارٍ، لَا ذَوِي لِسَانَيْنِ، غَيْرَ مُولَعِينَ بِٱلْخَمْرِ ٱلْكَثِيرِ، وَلَا طَامِعِينَ بِٱلرِّبْحِ ٱلْقَبِيحِ،
ܐܠܐ ܢܐܚܕܘܢ ܐܪܙܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܒܬܐܪܬܐ ܕܟܝܬܐἔχοντας τὸ μυστήριον τῆς πίστεως ἐν καθαρᾷ συνειδήσει.9Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.وَلَهُمْ سِرُّ ٱلْإِيمَانِ بِضَمِيرٍ طَاهِرٍ.
ܘܗܢܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܢܬܒܩܘܢ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܢܫܡܫܘܢ ܟܕ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܪܫܝܢκαὶ οὗτοι δὲ δοκιμαζέσθωσαν πρῶτον, εἶτα διακονείτωσαν ἀνέγκλητοι ὄντες.10And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being {found} blameless.وَإِنَّمَا هَؤُلَاءِ أَيْضًا لِيُخْتَبَرُوا أَوَّلًا، ثُمَّ يَتَشَمَّسُوا إِنْ كَانُوا بِلَا لَوْمٍ.
ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܢܫܐ ܢܗܘܝܢ ܢܟܦܢ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܥܝܪ ܪܥܝܢܗܝܢ ܘܢܗܘܝܢ ܡܗܝܡܢܢ ܒܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܝܢ ܐܟܠܢ ܩܪܨܐγυναῖκας ὡσαύτως σεμνάς, μὴ διαβόλους, νηφαλίους, πιστὰς ἐν πᾶσιν.11Even so {must their} wives {be} grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.كَذَلِكَ يَجِبُ أَنْ تَكُونَ ٱلنِّسَاءُ ذَوَاتِ وَقَارٍ، غَيْرَ ثَالِبَاتٍ، صَاحِيَاتٍ، أَمِينَاتٍ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ.
ܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܚܕܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ ܘܕܒܪ ܒܢܘܗܝ ܘܒܝܬܗ ܫܦܝܪδιάκονοι ἔστωσαν μιᾶς γυναικὸς ἄνδρες, τέκνων καλῶς προϊστάμενοι καὶ τῶν ἰδίων οἴκων.12Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.لِيَكُنِ ٱلشَّمَامِسَةُ كُلٌّ: بَعْلَ ٱمْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، مُدَبِّرِينَ أَوْلَادَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ حَسَنًا،
ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܫܡܫܘ ܫܦܝܪ ܕܪܓܐ ܛܒܐ ܩܢܝܢ ܠܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܘܡܓܠܐ ܐܦܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐοἱ γὰρ καλῶς διακονήσαντες βαθμὸν ἑαυτοῖς καλὸν περιποιοῦνται καὶ πολλὴν παρρησίαν ἐν πίστει τῇ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ.13For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. {used...: or, ministered}لِأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَشَمَّسُوا حَسَنًا، يَقْتَنُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ دَرَجَةً حَسَنَةً وَثِقَةً كَثِيرَةً فِي ٱلْإِيمَانِ ٱلَّذِي بِٱلْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ.
ܗܠܝܢ ܟܬܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܟܕ ܡܣܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܒܥܓܠ ܐܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܘܬܟΤαῦτά σοι γράφω ἐλπίζων ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ τάχειον·14These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:هَذَا أَكْتُبُهُ إِلَيْكَ رَاجِيًا أَنْ آتِيَ إِلَيْكَ عَنْ قَرِيبٍ.
ܘܐܢ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܘܚܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܬܕܥ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܠܡܬܗܦܟܘ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܬܝܗ ܥܕܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ ܥܡܘܕܐ ܘܫܬܐܣܬܐ ܕܫܪܪܐἐὰν δὲ βραδύνω, ἵνα εἰδῇς πῶς δεῖ ἐν οἴκῳ Θεοῦ ἀναστρέφεσθαι, ἥτις ἐστὶν ἐκκλησία Θεοῦ ζῶντος, στῦλος καὶ ἑδραίωμα τῆς ἀληθείας.15But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. {ground: or, stay}وَلَكِنْ إِنْ كُنْتُ أُبْطِئُ، فَلِكَيْ تَعْلَمَ كَيْفَ يَجِبُ أَنْ تَتَصَرَّفَ فِي بَيْتِ ٱللهِ، ٱلَّذِي هُوَ كَنِيسَةُ ٱللهِ ٱلْحَيِّ، عَمُودُ ٱلْحَقِّ وَقَاعِدَتُهُ.
ܘܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܪܒ ܗܘ ܐܪܙܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܐܬܓܠܝ ܒܒܣܪ ܘܐܙܕܕܩ ܒܪܘܚ ܘܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܡܠܐܟܐ ܘܐܬܟܪܙ ܒܝܬ ܥܡܡܐ ܘܐܬܗܝܡܢ ܒܥܠܡܐ ܘܐܣܬܠܩ ܒܫܘܒܚܐκαὶ ὁμολογουμένως μέγα ἐστὶν τὸ τῆς εὐσεβείας μυστήριον· Ὃς ἐφανερώθη ἐν σαρκί, ἐδικαιώθη ἐν πνεύματι, ὤφθη ἀγγέλοις, ἐκηρύχθη ἐν ἔθνεσιν, ἐπιστεύθη ἐν κόσμῳ, ἀνελήμφθη ἐν δόξῃ.16And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.وَبِٱلْإِجْمَاعِ عَظِيمٌ هُوَ سِرُّ ٱلتَّقْوَى: ٱللهُ ظَهَرَ فِي ٱلْجَسَدِ، تَبَرَّرَ فِي ٱلرُّوحِ، تَرَاءَى لِمَلَائِكَةٍ، كُرِزَ بِهِ بَيْنَ ٱلْأُمَمِ، أُومِنَ بِهِ فِي ٱلْعَالَمِ، رُفِعَ فِي ٱلْمَجْدِ.

ܪܘܚܐ ܕܝܢ ܦܫܝܩܐܝܬ ܐܡܪܐ ܕܒܙܒܢܐ ܐܚܪܝܐ ܢܦܪܩܘܢ ܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܢܐܙܠܘܢ ܒܬܪ ܪܘܚܐ ܛܥܝܬܐ ܘܒܬܪ ܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܫܐܕܐΤὸ δὲ πνεῦμα ῥητῶς λέγει ὅτι ἐν ὑστέροις καιροῖς ἀποστήσονταί τινες τῆς πίστεως, προσέχοντες πνεύμασιν πλάνοις καὶ διδασκαλίαις δαιμονίων,1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;وَلَكِنَّ ٱلرُّوحَ يَقُولُ صَرِيحًا: إِنَّهُ فِي ٱلْأَزْمِنَةِ ٱلْأَخِيرَةِ يَرْتَدُّ قَوْمٌ عَنِ ٱلْإِيمَانِ، تَابِعِينَ أَرْوَاحًا مُضِلَّةً وَتَعَالِيمَ شَيَاطِينَ،
ܗܠܝܢ ܕܒܐܣܟܡܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܡܛܥܝܢ ܘܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܟܕܒܘܬܐ ܘܟܘܝܢ ܒܬܐܪܬܗܘܢἐν ὑποκρίσει ψευδολόγων, κεκαυστηριασμένων τὴν ἰδίαν συνείδησιν,2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;فِي رِيَاءِ أَقْوَالٍ كَاذِبَةٍ، مَوْسُومَةً ضَمَائِرُهُمْ،
ܘܟܠܝܢ ܠܡܙܕܘܓܘ ܘܡܦܪܩܝܢ ܡܢ ܡܐܟܠܬܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܪܐ ܐܢܝܢ ܠܚܘܫܚܐ ܘܠܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܘܝܕܥܝܢ ܫܪܪܐκωλυόντων γαμεῖν, ἀπέχεσθαι βρωμάτων, ἃ ὁ Θεὸς ἔκτισεν εἰς μετάλημψιν μετὰ εὐχαριστίας τοῖς πιστοῖς καὶ ἐπεγνωκόσι τὴν ἀλήθειαν.3Forbidding to marry, {and commanding} to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.مَانِعِينَ عَنِ ٱلزِّوَاجِ، وَآمِرِينَ أَنْ يُمْتَنَعَ عَنْ أَطْعِمَةٍ قَدْ خَلَقَهَا ٱللهُ لِتُتَنَاوَلَ بِٱلشُّكْرِ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَعَارِفِي ٱلْحَقِّ.
ܡܛܠ ܕܟܠ ܕܒܪܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܗܘ ܘܠܝܬ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܣܠܝ ܐܢ ܒܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܢܬܢܣܒὅτι πᾶν κτίσμα Θεοῦ καλόν, καὶ οὐδὲν ἀπόβλητον μετὰ εὐχαριστίας λαμβανόμενον·4For every creature of God {is} good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:لِأَنَّ كُلَّ خَلِيقَةِ ٱللهِ جَيِّدَةٌ، وَلَا يُرْفَضُ شَيْءٌ إِذَا أُخِذَ مَعَ ٱلشُّكْرِ،
ܡܬܩܕܫ ܓܝܪ ܒܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܒܨܠܘܬܐἁγιάζεται γὰρ διὰ λόγου Θεοῦ καὶ ἐντεύξεως.5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.لِأَنَّهُ يُقَدَّسُ بِكَلِمَةِ ٱللهِ وَٱلصَّلَاةِ.
ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܡܠܦ ܠܐܚܝܟ ܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܛܒܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܟܕ ܡܬܪܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܒܡܠܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܛܒܐ ܕܝܠܝܦ ܐܢܬΤαῦτα ὑποτιθέμενος τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς καλὸς ἔσῃ διάκονος Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ, ἐντρεφόμενος τοῖς λόγοις τῆς πίστεως καὶ τῆς καλῆς διδασκαλίας ᾗ παρηκολούθηκας·6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.إِنْ فَكَّرْتَ ٱلْإِخْوَةَ بِهَذَا، تَكُونُ خَادِمًا صَالِحًا لِيَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ، مُتَرَبِّيًا بِكَلَامِ ٱلْإِيمَانِ وَٱلتَّعْلِيمِ ٱلْحَسَنِ ٱلَّذِي تَتَبَّعْتَهُ.
ܡܢ ܫܘܥܝܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܦܟܝܗܬܐ ܕܣܒܬܐ ܐܫܬܐܠ ܘܕܪܫ ܢܦܫܟ ܒܟܐܢܘܬܐτοὺς δὲ βεβήλους καὶ γραώδεις μύθους παραιτοῦ. γύμναζε δὲ σεαυτὸν πρὸς εὐσέβειαν.7But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself {rather} unto godliness.وَأَمَّا ٱلْخُرَافَاتُ ٱلدَّنِسَةُ ٱلْعَجَائِزِيَّةُ فَٱرْفُضْهَا، وَرَوِّضْ نَفْسَكَ لِلتَّقْوَى.
ܕܘܪܫܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܦܓܪܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܗܘ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܡܘܬܪ ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܡܘܬܪܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܫܘܘܕܝܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܕܙܒܢܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܕܥܬܝܕἡ γὰρ σωματικὴ γυμνασία πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶν ὠφέλιμος· ἡ δὲ εὐσέβεια πρὸς πάντα ὠφέλιμός ἐστιν, ἐπαγγελίαν ἔχουσα ζωῆς τῆς νῦν καὶ τῆς μελλούσης.8For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. {little: or, for a little time}لِأَنَّ ٱلرِّيَاضَةَ ٱلْجَسَدِيَّةَ نَافِعَةٌ لِقَلِيلٍ، وَلَكِنَّ ٱلتَّقْوَى نَافِعَةٌ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ، إِذْ لَهَا مَوْعِدُ ٱلْحَيَاةِ ٱلْحَاضِرَةِ وَٱلْعَتِيدَةِ،
ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܫܘܝܐ ܗܝ ܠܡܩܒܠܘܬܗπιστὸς ὁ λόγος καὶ πάσης ἀποδοχῆς ἄξιος·9This {is} a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.صَادِقَةٌ هِيَ ٱلْكَلِمَةُ وَمُسْتَحِقَّةٌ كُلَّ قُبُولٍ.
ܡܛܠ ܗܕܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܠܐܝܢܢ ܘܡܬܚܣܕܝܢܢ ܕܡܣܒܪܝܢܢ ܒܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܚܝܢܐ ܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܕܡܗܝܡܢܐεἰς τοῦτο γὰρ κοπιῶμεν καὶ ἀγωνιζόμεθα, ὅτι ἠλπίκαμεν ἐπὶ Θεῷ ζῶντι, ὅς ἐστιν Σωτὴρ πάντων ἀνθρώπων, μάλιστα πιστῶν.10For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.لِأَنَّنَا لِهَذَا نَتْعَبُ وَنُعَيَّرُ، لِأَنَّنَا قَدْ أَلْقَيْنَا رَجَاءَنَا عَلَى ٱللهِ ٱلْحَيِّ، ٱلَّذِي هُوَ مُخَلِّصُ جَمِيعِ ٱلنَّاسِ، وَلَا سِيَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ.
ܗܠܝܢ ܐܠܦ ܘܦܩܕΠαράγγελλε ταῦτα καὶ δίδασκε.11These things command and teach.أَوْصِ بِهَذَا وَعَلِّمْ.
ܘܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܢܒܣܐ ܥܠ ܛܠܝܘܬܟ ܐܠܐ ܗܘܝ ܕܡܘܬܐ ܠܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܒܡܠܬܐ ܘܒܗܘܦܟܐ ܘܒܚܘܒܐ ܘܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܕܟܝܘܬܐμηδείς σου τῆς νεότητος καταφρονείτω, ἀλλὰ τύπος γίνου τῶν πιστῶν ἐν λόγῳ, ἐν ἀναστροφῇ, ἐν ἀγάπῃ, ἐν πίστει, ἐν ἁγνείᾳ.12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.لَا يَسْتَهِنْ أَحَدٌ بِحَدَاثَتِكَ، بَلْ كُنْ قُدْوَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ: فِي ٱلْكَلَامِ، فِي ٱلتَّصَرُّفِ، فِي ٱلْمَحَبَّةِ، فِي ٱلرُّوحِ، فِي ٱلْإِيمَانِ، فِي ٱلطَّهَارَةِ.
ܥܕ ܐܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܬܚܦܛ ܒܩܪܝܢܐ ܘܒܒܥܘܬܐ ܘܒܝܘܠܦܢܐἕως ἔρχομαι πρόσεχε τῇ ἀναγνώσει, τῇ παρακλήσει, τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ.13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.إِلَى أَنْ أَجِيءَ ٱعْكُفْ عَلَى ٱلْقِرَاءَةِ وَٱلْوَعْظِ وَٱلتَّعْلِيمِ.
ܘܠܐ ܬܒܣܐ ܒܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܟ ܗܝ ܕܐܬܝܗܒܬ ܠܟ ܒܢܒܝܘܬܐ ܘܒܣܝܡ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܩܫܝܫܘܬܐμὴ ἀμέλει τοῦ ἐν σοὶ χαρίσματος, ὃ ἐδόθη σοι διὰ προφητείας μετὰ ἐπιθέσεως τῶν χειρῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτερίου.14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.لَا تُهْمِلِ ٱلْمَوْهِبَةَ ٱلَّتِي فِيكَ، ٱلْمُعْطَاةَ لَكَ بِٱلنُّبُوَّةِ مَعَ وَضْعِ أَيْدِي ٱلْمَشْيَخَةِ.
ܒܗܠܝܢ ܐܬܗܓܐ ܘܒܗܝܢ ܗܘܝ ܕܬܬܝܕܥ ܠܟܠܢܫ ܕܠܩܕܡܝܟ ܐܬܐ ܐܢܬταῦτα μελέτα, ἐν τούτοις ἴσθι, ἵνα σου ἡ προκοπὴ φανερὰ ᾖ πᾶσιν.15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. {to all: or, in all things}ٱهْتَمَّ بِهَذَا. كُنْ فِيهِ، لِكَيْ يَكُونَ تَقَدُّمُكَ ظَاهِرًا فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ.
ܘܐܙܕܗܪ ܒܢܦܫܟ ܘܒܝܘܠܦܢܟ ܘܚܡܣܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܬܥܒܕ ܢܦܫܟ ܬܚܐ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܡܥܝܢ ܠܟἔπεχε σεαυτῷ καὶ τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ, ἐπίμενε αὐτοῖς· τοῦτο γὰρ ποιῶν καὶ σεαυτὸν σώσεις καὶ τοὺς ἀκούοντάς σου.16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.لَاحِظْ نَفْسَكَ وَٱلتَّعْلِيمَ وَدَاوِمْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ، لِأَنَّكَ إِذَا فَعَلْتَ هَذَا، تُخَلِّصُ نَفْسَكَ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَكَ أَيْضًا.

ܒܩܫܝܫܐ ܠܐ ܬܓܥܘܪ ܐܠܐ ܐܦܝܣܝܗܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܐܒܐ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܛܠܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܐܚܝܟΠρεσβυτέρῳ μὴ ἐπιπλήξῃς, ἀλλὰ παρακάλει ὡς πατέρα, νεωτέρους ὡς ἀδελφούς,1Rebuke not an elder, but intreat {him} as a father; {and} the younger men as brethren;لَا تَزْجُرْ شَيْخًا بَلْ عِظْهُ كَأَبٍ، وَٱلْأَحْدَاثَ كَإِخْوَةٍ،
ܘܠܩܫܝܫܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܐܡܗܬܐ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܛܠܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܐܚܘܬܟ ܒܟܠܗ ܕܟܝܘܬܐπρεσβυτέρας ὡς μητέρας, νεωτέρας ὡς ἀδελφὰς ἐν πάσῃ ἁγνείᾳ.2The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.وَٱلْعَجَائِزَ كَأُمَّهَاتٍ، وَٱلْحَدَثَاتِ كَأَخَوَاتٍ، بِكُلِّ طَهَارَةٍ.
ܠܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܝܩܪ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܐܢܝܢ ܒܫܪܪܐΧήρας τίμα τὰς ὄντως χήρας.3Honour widows that are widows indeed.أَكْرِمِ ٱلْأَرَامِلَ ٱللَّوَاتِي هُنَّ بِٱلْحَقِيقَةِ أَرَامِلُ.
ܘܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܒܢܝܐ ܐܘ ܒܢܝ ܒܢܝܐ ܢܐܠܦܘܢ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܕܒܒܢܝ ܒܝܬܗܘܢ ܢܙܕܕܩܘܢ ܘܢܦܪܥܘܢ ܚܘܒܠܐ ܠܐܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܩܒܠܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐεἰ δέ τις χήρα τέκνα ἢ ἔκγονα ἔχει, μανθανέτωσαν πρῶτον τὸν ἴδιον οἶκον εὐσεβεῖν καὶ ἀμοιβὰς ἀποδιδόναι τοῖς προγόνοις· τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν ἀπόδεκτον ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ.4But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. {piety: or, kindness}وَلَكِنْ إِنْ كَانَتْ أَرْمَلَةٌ لَهَا أَوْلَادٌ أَوْ حَفَدَةٌ، فَلْيَتَعَلَّمُوا أَوَّلًا أَنْ يُوَقِّرُوا أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِمْ وَيُوفُوا وَالِدِيهِمِ ٱلْمُكَافَأَةَ، لِأَنَّ هَذَا صَالِحٌ وَمَقْبُولٌ أَمَامَ ٱللهِ.
ܐܝܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܗܝ ܘܡܫܘܚܕܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܣܒܪܗ ܥܠ ܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܘܐܡܝܢܐ ܒܨܠܘܬܐ ܘܒܒܥܘܬܐ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܒܐܝܡܡܐἡ δὲ ὄντως χήρα καὶ μεμονωμένη ἤλπικεν ἐπὶ Θεὸν καὶ προσμένει ταῖς δεήσεσιν καὶ ταῖς προσευχαῖς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας·5Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.وَلَكِنَّ ٱلَّتِي هِيَ بِٱلْحَقِيقَةِ أَرْمَلَةٌ وَوَحِيدَةٌ، فَقَدْ أَلْقَتْ رَجَاءَهَا عَلَى ٱللهِ، وَهِيَ تُواظِبُ ٱلطِّلِبَاتِ وَٱلصَّلَوَاتِ لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا.
ܐܝܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܦܠܚܐ ܐܣܛܪܢܝܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܗܝ ܟܕ ܚܝܐἡ δὲ σπαταλῶσα ζῶσα τέθνηκεν.6But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. {in...: or, delicately}وَأَمَّا ٱلْمُتَنَعِّمَةُ فَقَدْ مَاتَتْ وَهِيَ حَيَّةٌ.
ܗܠܝܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܦܩܕ ܠܗܝܢ ܕܕܠܐ ܪܫܝܢ ܢܗܘܝܢκαὶ ταῦτα παράγγελλε, ἵνα ἀνεπίλημπτοι ὦσιν.7And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.فَأَوْصِ بِهَذَا لِكَيْ يَكُنَّ بِلَا لَوْمٍ.
ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܕܝܠܗ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܒܝܬܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܝܨܦ ܗܢܐ ܟܦܪ ܠܗ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܝܫ ܗܘ ܡܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܝܢεἰ δέ τις τῶν ἰδίων καὶ μάλιστα οἰκείων οὐ προνοεῖ, τὴν πίστιν ἤρνηται καὶ ἔστιν ἀπίστου χείρων.8But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. {house: or, kindred}وَإِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ لَا يَعْتَنِي بِخَاصَّتِهِ، وَلَا سِيَّمَا أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ، فَقَدْ أَنْكَرَ ٱلْإِيمَانَ، وَهُوَ شَرٌّ مِنْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِ.
ܗܘܝܬ ܗܟܝܠ ܓܒܐ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܠܐ ܒܨܝܪܐ ܡܢ ܫܬܝܢ ܫܢܝܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܠܚܕ ܗܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܗܘܬΧήρα καταλεγέσθω μὴ ἔλαττον ἐτῶν ἑξήκοντα γεγονυῖα, ἑνὸς ἀνδρὸς γυνή,9Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, {taken...: or, chosen}لِتُكْتَتَبْ أَرْمَلَةٌ، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ عُمْرُهَا أَقَلَّ مِنْ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً، ٱمْرَأَةَ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ،
ܘܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܕܥܒܕܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܐܢ ܪܒܝܬ ܒܢܝܐ ܐܢ ܩܒܠܬ ܐܟܣܢܝܐ ܐܢ ܐܫܝܓܬ ܪܓܠܝܗܘܢ ܕܩܕܝܫܐ ܐܢ ܐܪܘܚܬ ܠܐܠܝܨܐ ܐܢ ܗܠܟܬ ܒܟܠ ܥܒܕ ܛܒἐν ἔργοις καλοῖς μαρτυρουμένη, εἰ ἐτεκνοτρόφησεν, εἰ ἐξενοδόχησεν, εἰ ἁγίων πόδας ἔνιψεν, εἰ θλιβομένοις ἐπήρκεσεν, εἰ παντὶ ἔργῳ ἀγαθῷ ἐπηκολούθησεν.10Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.مَشْهُودًا لَهَا فِي أَعْمَالٍ صَالِحَةٍ، إِنْ تَكُنْ قَدْ رَبَّتِ ٱلْأَوْلَادَ، أَضَافَتِ ٱلْغُرَبَاءَ، غَسَّلَتْ أَرْجُلَ ٱلْقِدِّيسِينَ، سَاعَدَتِ ٱلْمُتَضَايِقِينَ، ٱتَّبَعَتْ كُلَّ عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ.
ܡܢ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܛܠܝܢ ܐܫܬܐܠ ܡܨܛܪܝܢ ܠܗܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܥܠ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܘܒܥܝܢ ܠܡܗܘܐ ܠܓܒܪܐνεωτέρας δὲ χήρας παραιτοῦ· ὅταν γὰρ καταστρηνιάσωσιν τοῦ Χριστοῦ, γαμεῖν θέλουσιν,11But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;أَمَّا ٱلْأَرَامِلُ ٱلْحَدَثَاتُ فَٱرْفُضْهُنَّ، لِأَنَّهُنَّ مَتَى بَطِرْنَ عَلَى ٱلْمَسِيحِ، يُرِدْنَ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجْنَ،
ܘܕܝܢܗܝܢ ܩܝܡ ܗܘ ܕܛܠܡ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܗܝܢ ܩܕܡܝܬܐἔχουσαι κρίμα ὅτι τὴν πρώτην πίστιν ἠθέτησαν·12Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.وَلَهُنَّ دَيْنُونَةٌ لِأَنَّهُنَّ رَفَضْنَ ٱلْإِيمَانَ ٱلْأَوَّلَ.
ܝܠܦܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܦ ܚܒܢܢܘܬܐ ܟܕ ܡܬܟܪܟܢ ܒܝܬ ܒܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܚܒܢܢܘܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܕܢܣܓܝܢ ܡܡܠܠܐ ܘܢܦܪܩܢ ܣܪܝܩܬܐ ܘܢܡܠܠܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܘܠܐἅμα δὲ καὶ ἀργαὶ μανθάνουσιν, περιερχόμεναι τὰς οἰκίας, οὐ μόνον δὲ ἀργαὶ ἀλλὰ καὶ φλύαροι καὶ περίεργοι, λαλοῦσαι τὰ μὴ δέοντα.13And withal they learn {to be} idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ أَيْضًا يَتَعَلَّمْنَ أَنْ يَكُنَّ بَطَّالَاتٍ، يَطُفْنَ فِي ٱلْبُيُوتِ. وَلَسْنَ بَطَّالَاتٍ فَقَطْ بَلْ مِهْذَارَاتٌ أَيْضًا، وَفُضُولِيَّاتٌ، يَتَكَلَّمْنَ بِمَا لَا يَجِبُ.
ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܛܠܝܢ ܢܙܕܘܓܢ ܘܢܐܠܕܢ ܒܢܝܐ ܘܢܕܒܪܢ ܒܬܝܗܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܠܢ ܠܒܥܠܕܒܒܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܚܕܐ ܥܠܬܐ ܕܨܘܚܝܬܐβούλομαι οὖν νεωτέρας γαμεῖν, τεκνογονεῖν, οἰκοδεσποτεῖν, μηδεμίαν ἀφορμὴν διδόναι τῷ ἀντικειμένῳ λοιδορίας χάριν·14I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. {to speak...: Gr. for their railing}فَأُرِيدُ أَنَّ ٱلْحَدَثَاتِ يَتَزَوَّجْنَ وَيَلِدْنَ ٱلْأَوْلَادَ وَيُدَبِّرْنَ ٱلْبُيُوتَ، وَلَا يُعْطِينَ عِلَّةً لِلْمُقَاوِمِ مِنْ أَجْلِ ٱلشَّتْمِ.
ܥܠ ܕܗܫܐ ܓܝܪ ܫܪܝܘ ܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܠܡܣܛܐ ܒܬܪ ܣܛܢܐἤδη γάρ τινες ἐξετράπησαν ὀπίσω τοῦ Σατανᾶ.15For some are already turned aside after Satan.فَإِنَّ بَعْضَهُنَّ قَدِ ٱنْحَرَفْنَ وَرَاءَ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ.
ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܐܘ ܡܗܝܡܢܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܢܬܪܣܘܢ ܐܢܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܐܩܪܢ ܥܠ ܥܕܬܐ ܕܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܐܢܝܢ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܬܣܦܩεἴ τις πιστὴ ἔχει χήρας, ἐπαρκείτω αὐταῖς, καὶ μὴ βαρείσθω ἡ ἐκκλησία, ἵνα ταῖς ὄντως χήραις ἐπαρκέσῃ.16If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.إِنْ كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَوْ مُؤْمِنَةٍ أَرَامِلُ، فَلْيُسَاعِدْهُنَّ وَلَا يُثَقَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْكَنِيسَةِ، لِكَيْ تُسَاعِدَ هِيَ ٱللَّوَاتِي هُنَّ بِٱلْحَقِيقَةِ أَرَامِلُ.
ܩܫܝܫܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܡܬܕܒܪܝܢ ܠܐܝܩܪܐ ܥܦܝܦܐ ܢܫܘܘܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐܝܢ ܒܡܠܬܐ ܘܒܝܘܠܦܢܐΟἱ καλῶς προεστῶτες πρεσβύτεροι διπλῆς τιμῆς ἀξιούσθωσαν, μάλιστα οἱ κοπιῶντες ἐν λόγῳ καὶ διδασκαλίᾳ.17Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.أَمَّا ٱلشُّيُوخُ ٱلْمُدَبِّرُونَ حَسَنًا فَلْيُحْسَبُوا أَهْلًا لِكَرَامَةٍ مُضَاعَفَةٍ، وَلَا سِيَّمَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَتْعَبُونَ فِي ٱلْكَلِمَةِ وَٱلتَّعْلِيمِ،
ܐܡܪ ܓܝܪ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܒܠܘܡ ܬܘܪܐ ܒܕܪܟܬܐ ܘܫܘܐ ܗܘ ܦܥܠܐ ܐܓܪܗλέγει γὰρ ἡ γραφή Βοῦν ἀλοῶντα οὐ φιμώσεις, καί Ἄξιος ὁ ἐργάτης τοῦ μισθοῦ αὐτοῦ.18For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer {is} worthy of his reward.لِأَنَّ ٱلْكِتَابَ يَقُولُ: «لَا تَكُمَّ ثَوْرًا دَارِسًا»، وَ«ٱلْفَاعِلُ مُسْتَحِقٌّ أُجْرَتَهُ».
ܥܠ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܩܛܓܪܢܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܩܒܠ ܐܠܐ ܥܠ ܦܘܡ ܬܪܝܢ ܘܬܠܬܐ ܣܗܕܝܢκατὰ πρεσβυτέρου κατηγορίαν μὴ παραδέχου, ἐκτὸς εἰ μὴ ἐπὶ δύο ἢ τριῶν μαρτύρων.19Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. {before: or, under}لَا تَقْبَلْ شِكَايَةً عَلَى شَيْخٍ إِلَّا عَلَى شَاهِدَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةِ شُهُودٍ.
ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܚܛܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܢܫ ܟܘܢ ܕܐܦ ܫܪܟܐ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܢܕܚܠܘܢΤοὺς ἁμαρτάνοντας ἐνώπιον πάντων ἔλεγχε, ἵνα καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ φόβον ἔχωσιν.20Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.اَلَّذِينَ يُخْطِئُونَ وَبِّخْهُمْ أَمَامَ ٱلْجَمِيعِ، لِكَيْ يَكُونَ عِنْدَ ٱلْبَاقِينَ خَوْفٌ.
ܡܣܗܕ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܘܡܠܐܟܘܗܝ ܓܒܝܐ ܕܗܠܝܢ ܬܛܪ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܩܕܡ ܪܥܝܢܟ ܠܡܕܡ ܘܠܐ ܬܣܥܘܪ ܡܕܡ ܒܡܣܒ ܒܐܦܐδιαμαρτύρομαι ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τῶν ἐκλεκτῶν ἀγγέλων ἵνα ταῦτα φυλάξῃς χωρὶς προκρίματος, μηδὲν ποιῶν κατὰ πρόσκλισιν.21I charge {thee} before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality. {preferring...: or, prejudice}أُنَاشِدُكَ أَمَامَ ٱللهِ وَٱلرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ وَٱلْمَلَائِكَةِ ٱلْمُخْتَارِينَ، أَنْ تَحْفَظَ هَذَا بِدُونِ غَرَضٍ، وَلَا تَعْمَلَ شَيْئًا بِمُحَابَاةٍ.
ܐܝܕܐ ܒܥܓܠ ܥܠ ܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܬܣܝܡ ܘܠܐ ܬܫܬܘܬܦ ܒܚܛܗܐ ܢܘܟܪܝܐ ܢܦܫܟ ܛܪ ܒܕܟܝܘܬܐΧεῖρας ταχέως μηδενὶ ἐπιτίθει, μηδὲ κοινώνει ἁμαρτίαις ἀλλοτρίαις· σεαυτὸν ἁγνὸν τήρει.22Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.لَا تَضَعْ يَدًا عَلَى أَحَدٍ بِٱلْعَجَلَةِ، وَلَا تَشْتَرِكْ فِي خَطَايَا ٱلْآخَرِينَ. اِحْفَظْ نَفْسَكَ طَاهِرًا.
ܘܡܟܝܠ ܡܝܐ ܠܐ ܬܫܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܚܡܪܐ ܩܠܝܠ ܗܘܝܬ ܫܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܐܣܛܘܡܟܟ ܘܡܛܠ ܟܘܪܗܢܝܟ ܐܡܝܢܐΜηκέτι ὑδροπότει, ἀλλὰ οἴνῳ ὀλίγῳ χρῶ διὰ τὸν στόμαχον καὶ τὰς πυκνάς σου ἀσθενείας.23Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.لَا تَكُنْ فِي مَا بَعْدُ شَرَّابَ مَاءٍ، بَلِ ٱسْتَعْمِلْ خَمْرًا قَلِيلًا مِنْ أَجْلِ مَعِدَتِكَ وَأَسْقَامِكَ ٱلْكَثِيرَةِ.
ܐܝܬ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܕܚܛܗܝܗܘܢ ܝܕܝܥܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܡܩܕܡܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܒܝܬ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܕܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܐܙܠܝܢΤινῶν ἀνθρώπων αἱ ἁμαρτίαι πρόδηλοί εἰσιν προάγουσαι εἰς κρίσιν, τισὶν δὲ καὶ ἐπακολουθοῦσιν·24Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some {men} they follow after.خَطَايَا بَعْضِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَاضِحَةٌ تَتَقَدَّمُ إِلَى ٱلْقَضَاءِ، وَأَمَّا ٱلْبَعْضُ فَتَتْبَعُهُمْ.
ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܥܒܕܐ ܛܒܐ ܝܕܝܥܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܚܪܢܝܐܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܡܛܫܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢὡσαύτως καὶ τὰ ἔργα τὰ καλὰ πρόδηλα, καὶ τὰ ἄλλως ἔχοντα κρυβῆναι οὐ δύνανται.25Likewise also the good works {of some} are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.كَذَلِكَ أَيْضًا ٱلْأَعْمَالُ ٱلصَّالِحَةُ وَاضِحَةٌ، وَٱلَّتِي هِيَ خِلَافُ ذَلِكَ لَا يُمْكِنُ أَنْ تُخْفَى.

ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܢܝܪܐ ܕܥܒܕܘܬܐ ܠܡܪܝܗܘܢ ܒܟܠ ܐܝܩܪ ܢܐܚܕܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܫܡܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܝܘܠܦܢܗ ܡܬܓܕܦὍσοι εἰσὶν ὑπὸ ζυγὸν δοῦλοι, τοὺς ἰδίους δεσπότας πάσης τιμῆς ἀξίους ἡγείσθωσαν, ἵνα μὴ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ἡ διδασκαλία βλασφημῆται.1Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and {his} doctrine be not blasphemed.جَمِيعُ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَبِيدٌ تَحْتَ نِيرٍ فَلْيَحْسِبُوا سَادَتَهُمْ مُسْتَحِقِّينَ كُلَّ إِكْرَامٍ، لِئَلَّا يُفْتَرَى عَلَى ٱسْمِ ٱللهِ وَتَعْلِيمِهِ.
ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܠܐ ܢܒܣܘܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܐܚܝܗܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܢܫܡܫܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܚܒܝܒܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܬܢܝܚܝܢ ܒܬܫܡܫܬܗܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܠܦ ܘܒܥܝ ܡܢܗܘܢοἱ δὲ πιστοὺς ἔχοντες δεσπότας μὴ καταφρονείτωσαν, ὅτι ἀδελφοί εἰσιν, ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον δουλευέτωσαν, ὅτι πιστοί εἰσιν καὶ ἀγαπητοὶ οἱ τῆς εὐεργεσίας ἀντιλαμβανόμενοι. Ταῦτα δίδασκε καὶ παρακάλει.2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise {them}, because they are brethren; but rather do {them} service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. {faithful: or, believing}وَٱلَّذِينَ لَهُمْ سَادَةٌ مُؤْمِنُونَ، لَا يَسْتَهِينُوا بِهِمْ لِأَنَّهُمْ إِخْوَةٌ، بَلْ لِيَخْدِمُوهُمْ أَكْثَرَ، لِأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَشَارَكُونَ فِي ٱلْفَائِدَةِ، هُمْ مُؤْمِنُونَ وَمَحْبُوبُونَ. عَلِّمْ وَعِظْ بِهَذَا.
ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܬ ܐܢܫ ܕܡܠܦ ܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܩܪܒ ܠܡܠܐ ܚܠܝܡܬܐ ܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܘܠܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܕܚܠܬ ܐܠܗܐεἴ τις ἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖ καὶ μὴ προσέρχεται ὑγιαίνουσιν λόγοις, τοῖς τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, καὶ τῇ κατ’ εὐσέβειαν διδασκαλίᾳ,3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, {even} the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يُعَلِّمُ تَعْلِيمًا آخَرَ، وَلَا يُوافِقُ كَلِمَاتِ رَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ ٱلصَّحِيحَةَ، وَٱلتَّعْلِيمَ ٱلَّذِي هُوَ حَسَبَ ٱلتَّقْوَى،
ܗܢܐ ܡܬܪܝܡ ܟܕ ܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܠܐ ܟܪܝܗ ܒܕܪܫܐ ܘܒܒܥܬܐ ܕܡܠܐ ܕܡܢܗܝܢ ܗܘܐ ܚܣܡܐ ܘܚܪܝܢܐ ܘܓܘܕܦܐ ܘܡܣܡ ܒܪܥܝܢܐ ܒܝܫܐτετύφωται, μηδὲν ἐπιστάμενος, ἀλλὰ νοσῶν περὶ ζητήσεις καὶ λογομαχίας, ἐξ ὧν γίνεται φθόνος, ἔρις, βλασφημίαι, ὑπόνοιαι πονηραί,4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, {proud: or, a fool} {doting: or, sick}فَقَدْ تَصَلَّفَ، وَهُوَ لَا يَفْهَمُ شَيْئًا، بَلْ هُوَ مُتَعَلِّلٌ بِمُبَاحَثَاتٍ وَمُمَاحَكَاتِ ٱلْكَلَامِ، ٱلَّتِي مِنْهَا يَحْصُلُ ٱلْحَسَدُ وَٱلْخِصَامُ وَٱلِٱفْتِرَاءُ وَٱلظُّنُونُ ٱلرَّدِيَّةُ،
ܘܫܚܩܐ ܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܒܠ ܪܥܝܢܗܘܢ ܘܓܠܝܙܝܢ ܡܢ ܩܘܫܬܐ ܘܣܒܪܝܢ ܕܬܓܘܪܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܚܠܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܪܚܩ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢδιαπαρατριβαὶ διεφθαρμένων ἀνθρώπων τὸν νοῦν καὶ ἀπεστερημένων τῆς ἀληθείας, νομιζόντων πορισμὸν εἶναι τὴν εὐσέβειαν.5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. {Perverse...: or, Gallings one of another}وَمُنَازَعَاتُ أُنَاسٍ فَاسِدِي ٱلذِّهْنِ وَعَادِمِي ٱلْحَقِّ، يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّ ٱلتَّقْوَى تِجَارَةٌ. تَجَنَّبْ مِثْلَ هَؤُلَاءِ.
ܬܐܓܘܪܬܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܝܠܢ ܪܒܐ ܗܝ ܕܐܝܬܝܗ ܕܚܠܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܚܫܚܬܐ ܕܡܣܬܢἔστιν δὲ πορισμὸς μέγας ἡ εὐσέβεια μετὰ αὐταρκείας·6But godliness with contentment is great gain.وَأَمَّا ٱلتَّقْوَى مَعَ ٱلْقَنَاعَةِ فَهِيَ تِجَارَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ.
ܡܕܡ ܓܝܪ ܠܐ ܐܥܠܢ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܘܝܕܝܥܐ ܕܐܦܠܐ ܕܢܦܩ ܡܢܗ ܡܫܟܚܝܢܢοὐδὲν γὰρ εἰσηνέγκαμεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον, ὅτι οὐδὲ ἐξενεγκεῖν τι δυνάμεθα·7For we brought nothing into {this} world, {and it is} certain we can carry nothing out.لِأَنَّنَا لَمْ نَدْخُلِ ٱلْعَالَمَ بِشَيْءٍ، وَوَاضِحٌ أَنَّنَا لَا نَقْدِرُ أَنْ نَخْرُجَ مِنْهُ بِشَيْءٍ.
ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܣܦܩܐ ܠܢ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܘܬܟܣܝܬܐἔχοντες δὲ διατροφὰς καὶ σκεπάσματα, τούτοις ἀρκεσθησόμεθα.8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.فَإِنْ كَانَ لَنَا قُوتٌ وَكِسْوَةٌ، فَلْنَكْتَفِ بِهِمَا.
ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܨܒܝܢ ܠܡܥܬܪ ܢܦܠܝܢ ܒܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܘܒܦܚܐ ܘܒܪܓܝܓܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܕܣܟܠܢ ܘܡܣܓܦܢ ܘܡܛܒܥܢ ܠܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܒܚܒܠܐ ܘܒܐܒܕܢܐοἱ δὲ βουλόμενοι πλουτεῖν ἐμπίπτουσιν εἰς πειρασμὸν καὶ παγίδα καὶ ἐπιθυμίας πολλὰς ἀνοήτους καὶ βλαβεράς, αἵτινες βυθίζουσιν τοὺς ἀνθρώπους εἰς ὄλεθρον καὶ ἀπώλειαν.9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and {into} many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا أَغْنِيَاءَ، فَيَسْقُطُونَ فِي تَجْرِبَةٍ وَفَخٍّ وَشَهَوَاتٍ كَثِيرَةٍ غَبِيَّةٍ وَمُضِرَّةٍ، تُغَرِّقُ ٱلنَّاسَ فِي ٱلْعَطَبِ وَٱلْهَلَاكِ.
ܥܩܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܟܘܠܗܝܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܪܚܡܬ ܟܣܦܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܐܬܪܓܪܓܘ ܠܗ ܘܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܛܥܘ ܘܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܐܥܠܘ ܠܕܐܘܢܐ ܣܓܝܐܐῥίζα γὰρ πάντων τῶν κακῶν ἐστιν ἡ φιλαργυρία, ἧς τινες ὀρεγόμενοι ἀπεπλανήθησαν ἀπὸ τῆς πίστεως καὶ ἑαυτοὺς περιέπειραν ὀδύναις πολλαῖς.10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. {erred: or, been seduced}لِأَنَّ مَحَبَّةَ ٱلْمَالِ أَصْلٌ لِكُلِّ ٱلشُّرُورِ، ٱلَّذِي إِذِ ٱبْتَغَاهُ قَوْمٌ ضَلُّوا عَنِ ٱلْإِيمَانِ، وَطَعَنُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ بِأَوْجَاعٍ كَثِيرَةٍ.
ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܐܘ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܥܪܘܩ ܘܗܪܛ ܒܬܪ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܒܬܪ ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܬܪ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܬܪ ܚܘܒܐ ܘܒܬܪ ܡܣܝܒܪܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܬܪ ܡܟܝܟܘܬܐΣὺ δέ, ὦ ἄνθρωπε Θεοῦ, ταῦτα φεῦγε· δίωκε δὲ δικαιοσύνην, εὐσέβειαν, πίστιν, ἀγάπην, ὑπομονήν, πραϋπαθίαν.11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.وَأَمَّا أَنْتَ يَا إِنْسَانَ ٱللهِ فَٱهْرُبْ مِنْ هَذَا، وَٱتْبَعِ ٱلْبِرَّ وَٱلتَّقْوَى وَٱلْإِيمَانَ وَٱلْمَحَبَّةَ وَٱلصَّبْرَ وَٱلْوَدَاعَةَ.
ܘܐܬܟܬܫ ܒܐܓܘܢܐ ܛܒܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܐܕܪܟ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܕܠܗܘܢ ܐܬܩܪܝܬ ܘܐܘܕܝܬ ܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܩܕܡ ܣܗܕܐ ܣܓܝܐܐἀγωνίζου τὸν καλὸν ἀγῶνα τῆς πίστεως, ἐπιλαβοῦ τῆς αἰωνίου ζωῆς, εἰς ἣν ἐκλήθης καὶ ὡμολόγησας τὴν καλὴν ὁμολογίαν ἐνώπιον πολλῶν μαρτύρων.12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.جَاهِدْ جِهَادَ ٱلْإِيمَانِ ٱلْحَسَنَ، وَأَمْسِكْ بِٱلْحَيَاةِ ٱلْأَبَدِيَّةِ ٱلَّتِي إِلَيْهَا دُعِيتَ أَيْضًا، وَٱعْتَرَفْتَ ٱلِٱعْتِرَافَ ٱلْحَسَنَ أَمَامَ شُهُودٍ كَثِيرِينَ.
ܡܣܗܕ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܚܐ ܟܠ ܘܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܣܗܕ ܩܕܡ ܦܢܛܝܘܣ-ܦܝܠܛܘܣ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐπαραγγέλλω ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ τοῦ ζωογονοῦντος τὰ πάντα καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ μαρτυρήσαντος ἐπὶ Ποντίου Πειλάτου τὴν καλὴν ὁμολογίαν,13I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and {before} Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; {confession: or, profession}أُوصِيكَ أَمَامَ ٱللهِ ٱلَّذِي يُحْيِي ٱلْكُلَّ، وَٱلْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ ٱلَّذِي شَهِدَ لَدَى بِيلَاطُسَ ٱلْبُنْطِيِّ بِٱلِٱعْتِرَافِ ٱلْحَسَنِ:
ܕܬܛܪܝܘܗܝ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܛܘܠܫܐ ܘܕܠܐ ܡܘܡܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܓܠܝܢܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐτηρῆσαί σε τὴν ἐντολὴν ἄσπιλον ἀνεπίλημπτον μέχρι τῆς ἐπιφανείας τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ,14That thou keep {this} commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:أَنْ تَحْفَظَ ٱلْوَصِيَّةَ بِلَا دَنَسٍ وَلَا لَوْمٍ إِلَى ظُهُورِ رَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ،
ܗܘ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܒܙܒܢܗ ܢܚܘܝܘܗܝ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܒܪܟܐ ܘܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܡܪܐ ܕܡܪܘܬܐἣν καιροῖς ἰδίοις δείξει ὁ μακάριος καὶ μόνος Δυνάστης, ὁ Βασιλεὺς τῶν βασιλευόντων καὶ Κύριος τῶν κυριευόντων,15Which in his times he shall shew, {who is} the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;ٱلَّذِي سَيُبَيِّنُهُ فِي أَوْقَاتِهِ ٱلْمُبَارَكُ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْوَحِيدُ: مَلِكُ ٱلْمُلُوكِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْأَرْبَابِ،
ܗܘ ܕܗܘ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܡܬܚܒܠ ܘܥܡܪ ܒܢܘܗܪܐ ܕܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܕܢܬܩܪܒ ܠܗ ܘܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܚܙܝܗܝ ܘܐܦܠܐ ܡܨܐ ܠܡܚܙܝܗ ܗܘ ܕܠܗ ܐܝܩܪܐ ܘܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢὁ μόνος ἔχων ἀθανασίαν, φῶς οἰκῶν ἀπρόσιτον, ὃν εἶδεν οὐδεὶς ἀνθρώπων οὐδὲ ἰδεῖν δύναται· ᾧ τιμὴ καὶ κράτος αἰώνιον· ἀμήν.16Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom {be} honour and power everlasting. Amen.ٱلَّذِي وَحْدَهُ لَهُ عَدَمُ ٱلْمَوْتِ، سَاكِنًا فِي نُورٍ لَا يُدْنَى مِنْهُ، ٱلَّذِي لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَرَاهُ، ٱلَّذِي لَهُ ٱلْكَرَامَةُ وَٱلْقُدْرَةُ ٱلْأَبَدِيَّةُ. آمِينَ.
ܠܥܬܝܪܐ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܦܩܕ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܪܝܡܘܢ ܒܪܥܝܢܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܬܟܠܘܢ ܥܠ ܥܘܬܪܐ ܕܠܝܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܬܘܟܠܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܥܠ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ ܗܘ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܢ ܟܠ ܥܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܠܢܝܚܢΤοῖς πλουσίοις ἐν τῷ νῦν αἰῶνι παράγγελλε μὴ ὑψηλοφρονεῖν, μηδὲ ἠλπικέναι ἐπὶ πλούτου ἀδηλότητι, ἀλλ’ ἐπὶ Θεῷ τῷ παρέχοντι ἡμῖν πάντα πλουσίως εἰς ἀπόλαυσιν,17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; {uncertain...: Gr. uncertainty of riches}أَوْصِ ٱلْأَغْنِيَاءَ فِي ٱلدَّهْرِ ٱلْحَاضِرِ أَنْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُوا، وَلَا يُلْقُوا رَجَاءَهُمْ عَلَى غَيْرِ يَقِينِيَّةِ ٱلْغِنَى، بَلْ عَلَى ٱللهِ ٱلْحَيِّ ٱلَّذِي يَمْنَحُنَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِغِنًى لِلتَّمَتُّعِ.
ܘܢܥܒܕܘܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܛܒܐ ܘܢܥܬܪܘܢ ܒܣܘܥܪܢܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܕܠܝܠܝܢ ܠܡܬܠ ܘܠܡܫܬܘܬܦܘἀγαθοεργεῖν, πλουτεῖν ἐν ἔργοις καλοῖς, εὐμεταδότους εἶναι, κοινωνικούς,18That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; {willing...: or, sociable}وَأَنْ يَصْنَعُوا صَلَاحًا، وَأَنْ يَكُونُوا أَغْنِيَاءَ فِي أَعْمَالٍ صَالِحَةٍ، وَأَنْ يَكُونُوا أَسْخِيَاءَ فِي ٱلْعَطَاءِ، كُرَمَاءَ فِي ٱلتَّوْزِيعِ،
ܘܢܣܝܡܘܢ ܠܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܫܬܐܣܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܠܡܕܡ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܕܢܕܪܟܘܢ ܚܝܐ ܫܪܝܪܐἀποθησαυρίζοντας ἑαυτοῖς θεμέλιον καλὸν εἰς τὸ μέλλον, ἵνα ἐπιλάβωνται τῆς ὄντως ζωῆς.19Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.مُدَّخِرِينَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ أَسَاسًا حَسَنًا لِلْمُسْتَقْبِلِ، لِكَيْ يُمْسِكُوا بِٱلْحَيَاةِ ٱلْأَبَدِيَّةِ.
ܐܘ ܛܝܡܬܐܐ ܐܙܕܗܪ ܒܡܕܡ ܕܐܬܓܥܠ ܠܟ ܘܥܪܘܩ ܡܢ ܒܢܬ ܩܠܐ ܣܪܝܩܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܗܦܟܬܐ ܕܝܕܥܬܐ ܕܓܠܬܐὮ Τιμόθεε, τὴν παραθήκην φύλαξον, ἐκτρεπόμενος τὰς βεβήλους κενοφωνίας καὶ ἀντιθέσεις τῆς ψευδωνύμου γνώσεως,20O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane {and} vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: {science: Gr. knowledge}يَا تِيمُوثَاوُسُ، ٱحْفَظِ ٱلْوَدِيعَةَ، مُعْرِضًا عَنِ ٱلْكَلَامِ ٱلْبَاطِلِ ٱلدَّنِسِ، وَمُخَالَفَاتِ ٱلْعِلْمِ ٱلْكَاذِبِ ٱلِٱسْمِ،
ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܡܫܬܘܕܝܢ ܠܗ ܛܥܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܥܡܟ ܐܡܝܢἥν τινες ἐπαγγελλόμενοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν ἠστόχησαν. Ἡ χάρις μεθ’ ὑμῶν.21Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace {be} with thee. Amen. «{The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.}»ٱلَّذِي إِذْ تَظَاهَرَ بِهِ قَوْمٌ زَاغُوا مِنْ جِهَةِ ٱلْإِيمَانِ.
