| הַ/מַּשָׂא֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָזָ֔ה חֲבַקּ֖וּק הַ/נָּבִֽיא | 1 | The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. | اَلْوَحْيُ ٱلَّذِي رَآهُ حَبَقُّوقُ ٱلنَّبِيُّ. | |
| עַד אָ֧נָה יְהוָ֛ה שִׁוַּ֖עְתִּי וְ/לֹ֣א תִשְׁמָ֑ע אֶזְעַ֥ק אֵלֶ֛י/ךָ חָמָ֖ס וְ/לֹ֥א תוֹשִֽׁיעַ | 2 | O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! {even} cry out unto thee {of} violence, and thou wilt not save! | حَتَّى مَتَى يَارَبُّ أَدْعُو وَأَنْتَ لَا تَسْمَعُ؟ أَصْرُخُ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلْمِ وَأَنْتَ لَا تُخَلِّصُ؟ | |
| לָ֣/מָּה תַרְאֵ֤/נִי אָ֨וֶן֙ וְ/עָמָ֣ל תַּבִּ֔יט וְ/שֹׁ֥ד וְ/חָמָ֖ס לְ/נֶגְדִּ֑/י וַ/יְהִ֧י רִ֦יב וּ/מָד֖וֹן יִשָּֽׂא | 3 | Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause {me} to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence {are} before me: and there are {that} raise up strife and contention. | لِمَ تُرِينِي إِثْمًا، وَتُبْصِرُ جَوْرًا؟ وَقُدَّامِي ٱغْتِصَابٌ وَظُلْمٌ وَيَحْدُثُ خِصَامٌ وَتَرْفَعُ ٱلْمُخَاصَمَةُ نَفْسَهَا. | |
| עַל כֵּן֙ תָּפ֣וּג תּוֹרָ֔ה וְ/לֹֽא יֵצֵ֥א לָ/נֶ֖צַח מִשְׁפָּ֑ט כִּ֤י רָשָׁע֙ מַכְתִּ֣יר אֶת הַ/צַּדִּ֔יק עַל כֵּ֛ן יֵצֵ֥א מִשְׁפָּ֖ט מְעֻקָּֽל | 4 | Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. {wrong: or, wrested} | لِذَلِكَ جَمَدَتِ ٱلشَّرِيعَةُ وَلَا يَخْرُجُ ٱلْحُكْمُ بَتَّةً، لِأَنَّ ٱلشِّرِّيرَ يُحِيطُ بِٱلصِّدِّيقِ، فَلِذَلِكَ يَخْرُجُ ٱلْحُكْمُ مُعْوَجًّا. | |
| רְא֤וּ בַ/גּוֹיִם֙ וְֽ/הַבִּ֔יטוּ וְ/הִֽתַּמְּה֖וּ תְּמָ֑הוּ כִּי פֹ֨עַל֙ פֹּעֵ֣ל בִּֽ/ימֵי/כֶ֔ם לֹ֥א תַאֲמִ֖ינוּ כִּ֥י יְסֻפָּֽר | 5 | Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for {I} will work a work in your days, {which} ye will not believe, though it be told {you}. | «اُنْظُرُوا بَيْنَ ٱلْأُمَمِ، وَأَبْصِرُوا وَتَحَيَّرُوا حَيْرَةً. لِأَنِّي عَامِلٌ عَمَلًا فِي أَيَّامِكُمْ لَا تُصَدِّقُونَ بِهِ إِنْ أُخْبِرَ بِهِ. | |
| כִּֽי הִנְ/נִ֤י מֵקִים֙ אֶת הַ/כַּשְׂדִּ֔ים הַ/גּ֖וֹי הַ/מַּ֣ר וְ/הַ/נִּמְהָ֑ר הַֽ/הוֹלֵךְ֙ לְ/מֶרְחֲבֵי אֶ֔רֶץ לָ/רֶ֖שֶׁת מִשְׁכָּנ֥וֹת לֹּא לֽ/וֹ | 6 | For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, {that} bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces {that are} not theirs. {breadth: Heb. breadths} | فَهَأَنَذَا مُقِيمٌ ٱلْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ ٱلْأُمَّةَ ٱلْمُرَّةَ ٱلْقَاحِمَةَ ٱلسَّالِكَةَ فِي رِحَابِ ٱلْأَرْضِ لِتَمْلِكَ مَسَاكِنَ لَيْسَتْ لَهَا. | |
| אָיֹ֥ם וְ/נוֹרָ֖א ה֑וּא מִמֶּ֕/נּוּ מִשְׁפָּט֥/וֹ וּ/שְׂאֵת֖/וֹ יֵצֵֽא | 7 | They {are} terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves. {their judgment...: or, from them shall proceed the judgment of these, and the captivity of these} | هِيَ هَائِلَةٌ وَمَخُوفَةٌ. مِنْ قِبَلِ نَفْسِهَا يَخْرُجُ حُكْمُهَا وَجَلَالُهَا. | |
| וְ/קַלּ֨וּ מִ/נְּמֵרִ֜ים סוּסָ֗י/ו וְ/חַדּוּ֙ מִ/זְּאֵ֣בֵי עֶ֔רֶב וּ/פָ֖שׁוּ פָּֽרָשָׁ֑י/ו וּ/פָֽרָשָׁי/ו֙ מֵ/רָח֣וֹק יָבֹ֔אוּ יָעֻ֕פוּ כְּ/נֶ֖שֶׁר חָ֥שׁ לֶ/אֱכֽוֹל | 8 | Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle {that} hasteth to eat. {fierce: Heb. sharp} | وَخَيْلُهَا أَسْرَعُ مِنَ ٱلنُّمُورِ، وَأَحَدُّ مِنْ ذِئَابِ ٱلْمَسَاءِ. وَفُرْسَانُهَا يَنْتَشِرُونَ، وَفُرْسَانُهَا يَأْتُونَ مِنْ بَعِيدٍ، وَيَطِيرُونَ كَٱلنَّسْرِ ٱلْمُسْرِعِ إِلَى ٱلْأَكْلِ. | |
| כֻּלֹּ/ה֙ לְ/חָמָ֣ס יָב֔וֹא מְגַמַּ֥ת פְּנֵי/הֶ֖ם קָדִ֑ימָ/ה וַ/יֶּאֱסֹ֥ף כַּ/ח֖וֹל שֶֽׁבִי | 9 | They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up {as} the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. {their...: or, the supping up of their faces, etc: or, their faces shall look (Heb. the opposition of their faces) toward the east} | يَأْتُونَ كُلُّهُمْ لِلظُّلْمِ. مَنْظَرُ وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَى قُدَّامٍ، وَيَجْمَعُونَ سَبْيًا كَٱلرَّمْلِ. | |
| וְ/הוּא֙ בַּ/מְּלָכִ֣ים יִתְקַלָּ֔ס וְ/רֹזְנִ֖ים מִשְׂחָ֣ק ל֑/וֹ ה֚וּא לְ/כָל מִבְצָ֣ר יִשְׂחָ֔ק וַ/יִּצְבֹּ֥ר עָפָ֖ר וַֽ/יִּלְכְּדָֽ/הּ | 10 | And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it. | وَهِيَ تَسْخَرُ مِنَ ٱلْمُلُوكِ، وَٱلرُّؤَسَاءُ ضُحْكَةٌ لَهَا. وَتَضْحَكُ عَلَى كُلِّ حِصْنٍ، وَتُكَوِّمُ ٱلتُّرَابَ وَتَأْخُذُهُ. | |
| אָ֣ז חָלַ֥ף ר֛וּחַ וַֽ/יַּעֲבֹ֖ר וְ/אָשֵׁ֑ם ז֥וּ כֹח֖/וֹ לֵ/אלֹהֽ/וֹ | 11 | Then shall {his} mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, {imputing} this his power unto his god. | ثُمَّ تَتَعَدَّى رُوحُهَا فَتَعْبُرُ وَتَأْثَمُ. هَذِهِ قُوَّتُهَا إِلَهُهَا». | |
| הֲ/ל֧וֹא אַתָּ֣ה מִ/קֶּ֗דֶם יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהַ֛/י קְדֹשִׁ֖/י לֹ֣א נָמ֑וּת יְהוָה֙ לְ/מִשְׁפָּ֣ט שַׂמְתּ֔/וֹ וְ/צ֖וּר לְ/הוֹכִ֥יחַ יְסַדְתּֽ/וֹ | 12 | {Art} thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. {mighty...: Heb. rock} {established: Heb. founded} | أَلَسْتَ أَنْتَ مُنْذُ ٱلْأَزَلِ يَارَبُّ إِلَهِي قُدُّوسِي؟ لَا نَمُوتُ. يَارَبُّ لِلْحُكْمِ جَعَلْتَهَا، وَيَا صَخْرُ لِلتَّأْدِيبِ أَسَّسْتَهَا. | |
| טְה֤וֹר עֵינַ֨יִם֙ מֵ/רְא֣וֹת רָ֔ע וְ/הַבִּ֥יט אֶל עָמָ֖ל לֹ֣א תוּכָ֑ל לָ֤/מָּה תַבִּיט֙ בּֽוֹגְדִ֔ים תַּחֲרִ֕ישׁ בְּ/בַלַּ֥ע רָשָׁ֖ע צַדִּ֥יק מִמֶּֽ/נּוּ | 13 | {Thou art} of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, {and} holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth {the man that is} more righteous than he? {iniquity: or, grievance} | عَيْنَاكَ أَطْهَرُ مِنْ أَنْ تَنْظُرَا ٱلشَّرَّ، وَلَا تَسْتَطِيعُ ٱلنَّظَرَ إِلَى ٱلْجَوْرِ، فَلِمَ تَنْظُرُ إِلَى ٱلنَّاهِبِينَ، وَتَصْمُتُ حِينَ يَبْلَعُ ٱلشِّرِّيرُ مَنْ هُوَ أَبَرُّ مِنْهُ؟ | |
| וַ/תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה אָדָ֖ם כִּ/דְגֵ֣י הַ/יָּ֑ם כְּ/רֶ֖מֶשׂ לֹא מֹשֵׁ֥ל בּֽ/וֹ | 14 | And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, {that have} no ruler over them? {creeping: or, moving} | وَتَجْعَلُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَسَمَكِ ٱلْبَحْرِ، كَدَبَّابَاتٍ لَا سُلْطَانَ لَهَا. | |
| כֻּלֹּ/ה֙ בְּ/חַכָּ֣ה הֵֽעֲלָ֔ה יְגֹרֵ֣/הוּ בְ/חֶרְמ֔/וֹ וְ/יַאַסְפֵ֖/הוּ בְּ/מִכְמַרְתּ֑/וֹ עַל כֵּ֖ן יִשְׂמַ֥ח וְ/יָגִֽיל | 15 | They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. {drag: or, flue net} | تُطْلِعُ ٱلْكُلَّ بِشِصِّهَا، وَتَصْطَادُهُمْ بِشَبَكَتِهَا وَتَجْمَعُهُمْ فِي مِصْيَدَتِهَا، فَلِذَلِكَ تَفْرَحُ وَتَبْتَهِجُ. | |
| עַל כֵּן֙ יְזַבֵּ֣חַ לְ/חֶרְמ֔/וֹ וִֽ/יקַטֵּ֖ר לְ/מִכְמַרְתּ֑/וֹ כִּ֤י בָ/הֵ֨מָּה֙ שָׁמֵ֣ן חֶלְק֔/וֹ וּ/מַאֲכָל֖/וֹ בְּרִאָֽה | 16 | Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion {is} fat, and their meat plenteous. {plenteous: or, dainty: Heb. fat} | لِذَلِكَ تَذْبَحُ لِشَبَكَتِهَا، وَتُبَخِّرُ لِمِصْيَدَتِهَا، لِأَنَّهُ بِهِمَا سَمِنَ نَصِيبُهَا، وَطَعَامُهَا مُسَمَّنٌ. | |
| הַ֥/עַל כֵּ֖ן יָרִ֣יק חֶרְמ֑/וֹ וְ/תָמִ֛יד לַ/הֲרֹ֥ג גּוֹיִ֖ם לֹ֥א יַחְמֽוֹל | 17 | Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations? | أَفَلِأَجْلِ هَذَا تَفْرَغُ شَبَكَتُهَا وَلَا تَعْفُو عَنْ قَتْلِ ٱلْأُمَمِ دَائِمًا؟ |

| עַל מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֣/י אֶעֱמֹ֔דָה וְ/אֶֽתְיַצְּבָ֖ה עַל מָצ֑וֹר וַ/אֲצַפֶּ֗ה לִ/רְאוֹת֙ מַה יְדַבֶּר בִּ֔/י וּ/מָ֥ה אָשִׁ֖יב עַל תּוֹכַחְתִּֽ/י | 1 | I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. {tower: Heb. fenced place} {unto me: or, in me} {when...: or, when I am argued with: Heb. upon my reproof, or, arguing} | عَلَى مَرْصَدِي أَقِفُ، وَعَلَى ٱلْحِصْنِ أَنْتَصِبُ، وَأُرَاقِبُ لِأَرَى مَاذَا يَقُولُ لِي، وَمَاذَا أُجِيبُ عَنْ شَكْوَايَ. | |
| וַ/יַּעֲנֵ֤/נִי יְהוָה֙ וַ/יֹּ֔אמֶר כְּת֣וֹב חָז֔וֹן וּ/בָאֵ֖ר עַל הַ/לֻּח֑וֹת לְמַ֥עַן יָר֖וּץ ק֥וֹרֵא בֽ/וֹ | 2 | And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make {it} plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. | فَأَجَابَنِي ٱلرَّبُّ وَقَالَ: «ٱكْتُبِ ٱلرُّؤْيَا وَٱنْقُشْهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَلْوَاحِ لِكَيْ يَرْكُضَ قَارِئُهَا، | |
| כִּ֣י ע֤וֹד חָזוֹן֙ לַ/מּוֹעֵ֔ד וְ/יָפֵ֥חַ לַ/קֵּ֖ץ וְ/לֹ֣א יְכַזֵּ֑ב אִם יִתְמַהְמָהּ֙ חַכֵּה ל֔/וֹ כִּֽי בֹ֥א יָבֹ֖א לֹ֥א יְאַחֵֽר | 3 | For the vision {is} yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. | لِأَنَّ ٱلرُّؤْيَا بَعْدُ إِلَى ٱلْمِيعَادِ، وَفِي ٱلنِّهَايَةِ تَتَكَلَّمُ وَلَا تَكْذِبُ. إِنْ تَوَانَتْ فَٱنْتَظِرْهَا لِأَنَّهَا سَتَأْتِي إِتْيَانًا وَلَا تَتَأَخَّرُ. | |
| הִנֵּ֣ה עֻפְּלָ֔ה לֹא יָשְׁרָ֥ה נַפְשׁ֖/וֹ בּ֑/וֹ וְ/צַדִּ֖יק בֶּ/אֱמוּנָת֥/וֹ יִחְיֶֽה | 4 | Behold, his soul {which} is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. | «هُوَذَا مُنْتَفِخَةٌ غَيْرُ مُسْتَقِيمَةٍ نَفْسُهُ فِيهِ. وَٱلْبَارُّ بِإِيمَانِهِ يَحْيَا. | |
| וְ/אַף֙ כִּֽי הַ/יַּ֣יִן בּוֹגֵ֔ד גֶּ֥בֶר יָהִ֖יר וְ/לֹ֣א יִנְוֶ֑ה אֲשֶׁר֩ הִרְחִ֨יב כִּ/שְׁא֜וֹל נַפְשׁ֗/וֹ וְ/ה֤וּא כַ/מָּ֨וֶת֙ וְ/לֹ֣א יִשְׂבָּ֔ע וַ/יֶּאֱסֹ֤ף אֵלָי/ו֙ כָּל הַ/גּוֹיִ֔ם וַ/יִּקְבֹּ֥ץ אֵלָ֖י/ו כָּל הָ/עַמִּֽים | 5 | Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, {he is} a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and {is} as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people: {Yea...: or, How much more} | وَحَقًّا إِنَّ ٱلْخَمْرَ غَادِرَةٌ. ٱلرَّجُلَ مُتَكَبِّرٌ وَلَا يَهْدَأُ. ٱلَّذِي قَدْ وَسَّعَ نَفْسَهُ كَٱلْهَاوِيَةِ، وَهُوَ كَٱلْمَوْتِ فَلَا يَشْبَعُ، بَلْ يَجْمَعُ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ كُلَّ ٱلْأُمَمِ، وَيَضُمُّ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ جَمِيعَ ٱلشُّعُوبِ. | |
| הֲ/לוֹא אֵ֣לֶּה כֻלָּ֗/ם עָלָי/ו֙ מָשָׁ֣ל יִשָּׂ֔אוּ וּ/מְלִיצָ֖ה חִיד֣וֹת ל֑/וֹ וְ/יֹאמַ֗ר ה֚וֹי הַ/מַּרְבֶּ֣ה לֹּא ל֔/וֹ עַד מָתַ֕י וּ/מַכְבִּ֥יד עָלָ֖י/ו עַבְטִֽיט | 6 | Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth {that which is} not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay! {Woe...: or, Ho, he} | فَهَلَّا يَنْطِقُ هَؤُلَاءِ كُلُّهُمْ بِهَجْوٍ عَلَيْهِ وَلُغْزِ شَمَاتَةٍ بِهِ، وَيَقُولُونَ: وَيْلٌ لِلْمُكَثِّرِ مَا لَيْسَ لَهُ! إِلَى مَتَى؟ وَلِلْمُثَقِّلِ نَفْسَهُ رُهُونًا! | |
| הֲ/ל֣וֹא פֶ֗תַע יָק֨וּמוּ֙ נֹשְׁכֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/יִקְצ֖וּ מְזַעְזְעֶ֑י/ךָ וְ/הָיִ֥יתָ לִ/מְשִׁסּ֖וֹת לָֽ/מוֹ | 7 | Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them? | أَلَا يَقُومُ بَغْتَةً مُقَارِضُوكَ، وَيَسْتَيْقِظُ مُزَعْزِعُوكَ، فَتَكُونَ غَنِيمَةً لَهُمْ؟ | |
| כִּֽי אַתָּ֤ה שַׁלּ֨וֹתָ֙ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֔ים יְשָׁלּ֖וּ/ךָ כָּל יֶ֣תֶר עַמִּ֑ים מִ/דְּמֵ֤י אָדָם֙ וַ/חֲמַס אֶ֔רֶץ קִרְיָ֖ה וְ/כָל יֹ֥שְׁבֵי בָֽ/הּ | 8 | Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men's blood, and {for} the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. {blood: Heb. bloods} | لِأَنَّكَ سَلَبْتَ أُمَمًا كَثِيرَةً، فَبَقِيَّةُ ٱلشُّعُوبِ كُلِّهَا تَسْلُبُكَ لِدِمَاءِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَظُلْمِ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَجَمِيعِ ٱلسَّاكِنِينَ فِيهَا. | |
| ה֗וֹי בֹּצֵ֛עַ בֶּ֥צַע רָ֖ע לְ/בֵית֑/וֹ לָ/שׂ֤וּם בַּ/מָּרוֹם֙ קִנּ֔/וֹ לְ/הִנָּצֵ֖ל מִ/כַּף רָֽע | 9 | Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! {coveteth...: or, gaineth and evil gain} {power...: Heb. palm of the hand} | «وَيْلٌ لِلْمُكْسِبِ بَيْتَهُ كَسْبًا شِرِّيرًا لِيَجْعَلَ عُشَّهُ فِي ٱلْعُلُوِّ لِيَنْجُوَ مِنْ كَفِّ ٱلشَّرِّ! | |
| יָעַ֥צְתָּ בֹּ֖שֶׁת לְ/בֵיתֶ֑/ךָ קְצוֹת עַמִּ֥ים רַבִּ֖ים וְ/חוֹטֵ֥א נַפְשֶֽׁ/ךָ | 10 | Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned {against} thy soul. | تَآمَرْتَ ٱلْخِزْيَ لِبَيْتِكَ. إِبَادَةَ شُعُوبٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَأَنْتَ مُخْطِئٌ لِنَفْسِكَ. | |
| כִּי אֶ֖בֶן מִ/קִּ֣יר תִּזְעָ֑ק וְ/כָפִ֖יס מֵ/עֵ֥ץ יַעֲנֶֽ/נָּה | 11 | For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. {beam: or, piece, or, fastening} {answer it: or, witness against it} | لِأَنَّ ٱلْحَجَرَ يَصْرُخُ مِنَ ٱلْحَائِطِ فَيُجِيبُهُ ٱلْجَائِزُ مِنَ ٱلْخَشَبِ. | |
| ה֛וֹי בֹּנֶ֥ה עִ֖יר בְּ/דָמִ֑ים וְ/כוֹנֵ֥ן קִרְיָ֖ה בְּ/עַוְלָֽה | 12 | Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! {blood: Heb. bloods} | «وَيْلٌ لِلْبَانِي مَدِينَةً بِٱلدِّمَاءِ، وَلِلْمُؤَسِّسِ قَرْيَةً بِٱلْإِثْمِ! | |
